PALL MALL's marketing tool

Well, PALL MALL do have it's marketing tools and above is one such kind.
They are meant for their Retailers and it is to educate and keep them on track.
It also serves as a product training, to upkeep them on product knowledge and 
updating them on promotions
Such are workable choice of tools, the only one and it do helps even if they are 
just some small time shops or a counter sales stall as they will look in amazement 
of the products in print. I have known of some shop owners collecting these materials.
Some who don't, will willingly give them to me and for that I must oftenly patronize
their shops on one thing or another. Well, smoking was one option. :-)
As such, catalogs always come in attractive packages so as to make them get interested. 
Often enough they were given some bonuses too, like a free gift.
So, do I, one who also collects other type of product catalogs, brochures and gifts!.

Tomorrow marks the end of August and the Marlboro Intense will wraps up the showcase!

PALL MALL's Smaller Packs

I found out recently that from this month onwards
they have stopped the retail of smaller packs of 14 sticks
The minimum size of a pack of cigarettes is 20 sticks
However, this recalls my memory on the yet smaller size
of 10 sticks that I have collected!
Once upon a time there's also the 7 sticks
but I've not had any one of PALL MALL's!
On the right in the photo are the limited special motorsports edition!

PALL MALL - before the new Policy

Before PALL MALL went into ther final transitions
to cope with the New Directive Policy,
there were quite a handful of packagings that was retailed.
This packaging in the midst of 2008 was one of them.
( top front view of the packs - comes in 4 flavours, 20 sticks )
It wasn't a limited edition but it only lasted for a short period.

PALL MALL since 1899

PALL MALL is FAMOUS cigarettes?
These three carton box I collected somewhere in 2008 clearly indicates that 
PALL MALL have been around for over a decade!
But of course back then it was Rothmans of PALL MALL.
Gee! I would wanna go find me an old 
 cigarette pack with Rothmans of PALL MALL!
The above are the 3 flavors of the Limited Edition
that also comes in twin pack special box 
( the bigger box as shown on the left )

Just before the month ends for me to conclude on
this month's showcase of Marlboro Intense brand, 
I'll arrange a few more of PALL MALL's other special packages.

PALL MALL shedding it's own skin!


2009 has been the year of change for many cigarette companies and it's brands.
PALL MALL, after acquiring the 2 brands, Matterhorn and Perilly's,
has also been very rigorously shedding it's skin for a new image!
Yes, always something new from PALL MALL.
See the top with it's peeling covers and below it's new packings.
The 3 basic flavors of 20 sticks.

and as usual the marketing card that's enclosed inside the box.
And it is trying to remind smokers that the taste is still the same after the change!

PALL MALL - all the 23's

After the take-over and transition of Perilly's 25's,
 PALL MALL finally decided on producing only 23's
and those are the ranges of flavors that came about.
The original black box of Perilly's in the end has disappeared from the shelves!
Over the year ending 2009, following the New Directive Policy,
alot of changes has came about within PAL MALL on their packagings.
 I'll need to reshoot some photos on the arrangements before
I do my next posting about the transition.

Perilly's Finale

After the previous bLoG on it's original full flavor
( the black box that turned side-opening pack ),
we not only see the transition of it
( note the small name of with PALL MALL below Perilly's logo ),
but this would also be the last we've seen of Perilly's Menthol 25 sticks!
And the following original packs has also followed it's tragic ending
after being transitioned into PALL MALL
It really is a pity of a brand that's been around for quite a decade.
And so does it's 100's king size! But looks like Pall Mall won't be
producing the 100's at this moment.
As it is that has happened to the Menthol of Matterhorn's 100's
Well, I sure hope one day they'd make a comeback like what KENT did!
Goodbye to my one time favorite, Perilly's!

Perilly's Side-Opening Pack

This has been the Perilly's black box of the original full filters ( of 25 stcks )
just before being converted into the following side-opening pack that is
finally called Pall Mall

Pall Mall all the while only retail up to 20 sticks in their packs
until it took over Perilly's 25 sticks and
later it also produces the 23 stick packs!
They also had the Perilly's menthol taste transitioned as well.

The Transition of Matterhorn

Before presenting the Perilly's side-opening packs, the following marks the end of a very old menthol brand, probably the only brand that sell alongside the strong SALEM menthol - the Matterhorn. It has been called the old man's cigarette. But it has it's ending, finally beaten out of the market by SALEM!

However, Pall Mall has taken the liberty of taking over the company and "converting" it into a new breed of Pall Mall - menthol flavor. Originally of course Pall Mall already has it's own menthol. But why it is doing this the reasons I have not known.

In the recent years there have been some take overs as well. Cigarette brands do tumble! I still remember in the early 80's, I used to smoke Rothmans of Pall Mall, the 100's king size. That was their trade mark of King Size cigarettes - the one and only perhaps! And almost every smoker knows! But today, Rothmans is Rothmans and Pall Mall is what it is now!

Well, I am glad I'm one of the proud owner of this special release during it's take over. But sad to say I have the only holding box of Matterhorn on my collection! I should have more than one, normally prefered!
